Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

• No accounts or contact details. The site has no sign-up, and none of its pages ask for your name, email address, or phone number.
• Search and the name generator run in your browser. What you type into the search page, and the choices you make in the name generator, are not sent to us. When you search from the home page, your search words travel in the page address, so they reach our hosting provider like any page request. They aren't linked to you.
• Technical data. Like any website, our hosting provider receives your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you request, and the page that referred you, and keeps them in short-lived server logs used to run and secure the site.
• Usage data. Google Analytics records how the site is used: pages viewed, how you arrived, device and browser type, and approximate location. See section 4.
• Advertising data. Google AdSense, which shows the ads on our pages, and its partners collect data such as your IP address, device and browser type, cookie identifiers, and the pages you view, to choose, show and measure ads. See section 4.

2. How we use it

• To deliver pages to you.
• To keep the site secure, prevent abuse, diagnose problems, and understand overall traffic.
• To comply with law.

3. Who we share it with

• Service providers that run the site on our behalf: Vercel (hosting) and Google Analytics (website analytics). They may process data only to provide their service to us.
• Advertising partners. Google AdSense and the ad partners it works with receive the advertising data described in section 1 when ads load on a page.
• Legal and safety. When required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of anyone.
• Business transfers. If Northwoods Ventures LLC is acquired or merges, information may transfer to the successor under this policy.

We do not sell personal information for money. Some state privacy laws treat letting ad partners use cookies for ads based on your interests as “selling” or “sharing” personal information; you can opt out of that as described in section 4.

4. Cookies, analytics and advertising

Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use the site, so we can improve it. It uses first-party cookies and collects your IP address, device and browser type, the pages you visit, how you arrived, and your approximate location. Google processes this data for us. We have turned off Google signals and ad personalization, so it isn't used to build advertising profiles, and we don't send Google your name, email address, or anything you type. Advertising. We show ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to show ads, limit how often you see the same one, and measure how ads perform, and they may show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Your choices. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we ask for your consent before cookies are used for ads or analytics, and you can change your answer at any time with the “Privacy and cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page. Anywhere, you can turn off ads based on your interests in Google's ad settings, and you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; every page still works. If we add forms that collect information, we will update this policy first and describe them here.

5. Other websites

Our pages link to other sites, such as Ireland's Central Statistics Office and our free baby registry partner. What happens on those sites is governed by their own privacy policies.

6. How long we keep it

Server logs are kept for a short period, generally no more than 30 days, unless we need them longer to investigate abuse or as the law requires.

7. Your choices and rights

To ask what we hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted, email support@babynamesofireland.com and we will respond within 45 days. Residents of states with consumer privacy laws, including Connecticut, California, Colorado, and Virginia, and of the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, may exercise their rights under those laws the same way. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

8. Security

Pages are served over HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee against every breach.

9. Children

Baby Names of Ireland is written for parents and parents-to-be. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe we have, email us and we will delete it.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. The effective date appears at the top. See also our Terms of Service.
