St. Ruadhán (died 584) founded the monastery of Lorrha in north County Tipperary and is counted among the Twelve Apostles of Ireland, the twelve saints who studied under St. Finnian of Clonard. In medieval legend he cursed the high king Diarmait mac Cerbaill at Tara and foretold his death. The bronze Bell of St. Ruadhán, found in a well named after him at Lorrha, is now in the British Museum. His feast day is April 15.
